Position may be based in Tallahassee or Palm Beach County and statewide travel is required.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
Intern responsibilities include drafting letters to stakeholders, writing summary briefs, researching various issues for the staff, and assisting with additional office duties assigned by the office staff.

The firm represents a wide variety of clients and is seeking an Attorney who can hit the ground running with client representation and transactional experience. Position may be based in Tallahassee or Palm Beach County and statewide travel is required.
Job Responsibilities:
Applicants must be able to perform the following:
- Conduct legal research;
- Review documents and provide legal opinions;
- Represent and assist in the representation of clients in a variety of procedural and transactional legal matters;
- Prepare, review, and revise contracts, agreements, covenants, policies and other legal documents;
- Monitor and report on matters (legal opinions and decisions, legislation, rulemaking or policy) affecting clients;
- Draft letters and legal pleadings, e-file documents;
- Participate in the full range of tasks involved in legal representation of our clients, including factual investigation, case management, legal research and analysis, discovery, briefing, and oral advocacy;
- Assist with the firm’s efforts in responding to requests for proposals for legal services; and
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Must hold a J.D. from an ABA approved law school.
- Must be an active member of the Florida Bar in good standing and possess a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in the practice of law.
- Must possess excellent research, writing, communication, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills.
- Must have familiarity with the Florida Administrative Procedures Act, the Sunshine Law and the Public Records Act.
- Must be detail-oriented, able to understand complex material, and communicate effectively.
- Must be able to work with confidential information and prioritize tasks and demands.
- Must possess a strong work ethic and initiative, and sound, yet creative, judgment.
- Must be able to work well in a team-oriented atmosphere and be able to travel as needed for client meetings, case work, court appearances and presentations.
- Prior experience in state or local government is preferred.
- Computer proficiency in Windows-based software and Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
Salary and Benefits:
Salary range $90,000-110,000. Our firm offers a competitive benefits package including vision, dental, life and accident insurance, employer paid health care, and a 401k plan.

Work Environment
- Must work in-office at PLG
- No travel requirements
- 20 hours a week work schedule
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
In stating the required knowledge, including the level or depth needed for entry into the position. The following definitions should be helpful:
- Strong Writing Skills: applicants must be able to write issue summary briefs, letters to various stakeholders, and other legislative materials.
- Good Organizational Habits: applicants must show a strong level of organization as they are tasked with scheduling meetings and updating the government affairs team on different events and deadlines about the legislative process.
- Team Player: applicants must have a strong work ethic and desire to lean into other Pittman Law Group team members’ assignments should the need arise. As a full-service law firm, there are times when work outside of the legislative affairs space might be required.
- Work Flexibility: there are times when interns must be able to work weekends or evenings depending on client and legislative needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Legal writing skills
- Qualitative and quantitative research experience
- Working knowledge of the Florida Legislature and Florida political process
- Car and driver’s license
